When an employee punches from a phone, Diwan records where they were at that moment only. To tell whether the punch came from the workplace, the location needs a point on the map and a radius around it.
Steps
- Open «Company settings → Structure → Structure» and go to the «Locations» tab.
- Press «Add location» (or open an existing one to edit it): the place's name (office, warehouse, factory), the branch it belongs to, and the address.
- Set the point. The easiest way is to stand at the place and press «Use my current location»: Diwan takes your position and tells you how accurate it is. Or type «Latitude» and «Longitude» by hand, both together.
- Enter «Punch radius (meters)»: phone punches are accepted inside this circle around the point. 150 m suits most offices; anything from 20 to 5,000 m is allowed.
- Press «Open in map» to check the point is in the right place, then save.
In the list, a location with a radius shows its «Punch radius» in meters, and one without shows «No punch radius».
What happens at punch time?
- Diwan compares the employee's position with the nearest location in their branch that has a point and a radius.
- A punch outside the radius is not rejected: it is saved, but the day is marked «Suspicious punch» and shows under «Attendance & leave → Exceptions» for review.
- If no location in the branch has a radius, the punch is saved with its position and without this check.
Tips
- If «Use my current location» fails, let the browser or the app use your location in its settings, or type the coordinates.
- For factories and large buildings, widen the radius a little rather than reviewing valid punches every day.
