With dozens or hundreds of employees, importing from Excel saves days. Diwan checks the whole file before writing anything, so there is no such thing as a half-finished import.
Steps
- Open «Company settings → Employees → Import from Excel».
- Download the template: press «Download the template» and fill in one row per employee. Columns marked * are required, and an instructions sheet inside the file explains each column. Updating existing employees? Download it «With my current employees»: an empty cell changes nothing.
- Upload the file: «Choose a file» (.xlsx only) and set «Syrian pound amounts» to «In new pounds» or in old pounds, in which case Diwan removes two zeros. Then press «Upload and check».
- Check result: if there are errors, no employee is added until all of them are fixed. Press «Download the file with errors»: your own file with an Issues column and the wrong cells colored. Fix it there and upload it as it is.
- Warnings don't block, but read them and tick that you did before you continue.
- Confirm: you see how many employees will be added and how many updated, and choose «Changes take effect from» (for pay, assignment, insurance and payment). Press «Confirm and write the employees».
Tips
- File too large? Split it by branch and upload each part.
- Diwan says it is not an .xlsx file? Save it from Excel as «.xlsx» and try again.
- If you never confirm, the file is not kept forever: it is deleted after a while, and the check result shows the date.
- Set up the structure (branches, departments, job titles) first, because the file links each employee to them.
- For people who join later, use «Add employee» one by one.
